PYP is a small youth charity that was set up in 2007. It became a registered charity in England and Wales in November 2009.
Our Mission

The Positive Youth Programmes mission is to stimulate, engage and empower youth through careers advice, sexual reproductive health and human rights education in an effort to actively create opportunities that will inspire them to make informed decisions about their lives.

PYP Volunteer Programme

PYP Volunteers are an indispensable part of our organisation because they extend our limited resources by providing extra hands that enable us to do tasks and activities that we might otherwise not have been able to do. The programme ensures that our volunteers gain a sense of ownership when they become visible advocates of PYP projects. They build organisational strength through promotion of PYP because they believe in the cause.

Our Purposes;

· To fight the spread of HIV/AIDS amongst youth in the UK and Africa through behavioural change projects;

·To strengthen their capacity to promote sexual and reproductive health and human rights advocacy;

·To create awareness through sensitising the community especially the youths on behaviour change and peer education

Our Objectives;

· To help young people, especially but not exclusively through leisure time activities, so as to develop their capabilities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.

· To develop the capacity and skills of the youth of the socially and economically disadvantaged community in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society

·To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing youth that are living with HIV/AIDS from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society

Our Values;

  •  Reaching out and responding appropriately to the expressed needs of young people.
  • Working towards the improvement of services for young people either by our own action or by collective action with others.
  • The dissemination of relevant information in particular with regard to sexual health education, human rights and careers development

PYP works towards the fulfilment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in particular, Goals 3, 6 and 8. The MDGs are drawn from the actions and targets contained in the Millennium Declaration that was adopted by 189 nations during the UN Millennium Summit in September 2000 in response to the world's main development challenges
